About Me

IMG_9316.jpg

Hello! My name is Shane McNeill. The first thing about me is that I'm a big pop culture nerd. When I was little, I spent most of my time sitting in front of a television screen watching old VHS tapes from Blockbuster. Films such as Star Wars, Batman, and The Truman Show were the most impactful on me due to their unbelievable and one-of-a-kind stories. Watching these films sparked a desire to tell stories of my own. This desire has since followed me into my adult life, as I've become both a videographer and filmmaker passionate about capturing moments wherever I go. In June of 2022, I passed a significant milestone of graduating with a bachelor's degree in Film at Portland State University.

Since I've had a camera, I've always wanted to be more than just a one-dimensional artist. I take pride in my variety of work for capturing different individual stories and showcasing local brands. I am constantly learning and practicing various film specialties to help me become a better artist and more confident in my work.

I've worked in various work environments, including on-set and live events. I have produced online content for brands: TEDx, Wild Diversity, Portland State Vikings, United PDX, and Oregon Airsoft Arena.

Video Intern

United PDX

Game Production Coordinator

Portland State Athletics

Social Media Videographer

TEDx Portland State University

With this internship, I've worked to create promotional videos for the youth soccer club United PDX. Working alongside Director of Communications and Marketing of the club, I've expanded the club's video content on their social media pages to bring in more prospective players.

After my time as a Videographer last season, I was promoted to the role of Game Production Coordinator this season. In this role, I had a more significant hand in planning each game. This included creating social media content and the Marketing Coordinator leading up to each home game, which involved filming, lighting, and editing pregame interviews and weekly coaches' shows.

During this internship, I worked with graphic designers and fellow videographers to generate various concepts for the TEDx social media pages leading up to Portland State's 2020 TEDx online-only event. These social media posts were informative and helped build anticipation with our growing social media followers. When it came time for Portland State's TEDx event in October of 2020, I led all aspects of the filming process, including setting up audio equipment inside the theater, lighting the stage, and even shooting behind-the-scenes footage. I then edited the TEDx talks into individual videos and posted them on the official TEDx YouTube page during the post-production process.
